Your exact error sits in the options — the answer you would have picked last time is right there, waiting to be picked again. Walking past it is the only proof that counts.

A $200 jacket is marked up 10%, then discounted 10%. Final price?
+10% − 10% = 0% → $200.

Which choice conforms to the conventions of Standard English? "Marisol rewrote the opening ___ it now begins with the storm."
"chapter, it now begins" — both sides are full sentences, so the comma cannot join them.
"chapter; it now begins" — or a period, or "chapter, and it now begins". Semicolon, period, or comma + FANBOYS.
If 3x − 7 = 14, what is x?
3x = 14 − 7 = 7 → x = 7/3.
3x = 14 + 7 = 21 → x = 7.
"The alloy resists corrosion in salt water. ___ , it becomes brittle below freezing."
"Therefore" — treating a drawback as a consequence of the advantage.
"However" — the second sentence works against the first, so the transition must reverse.
