What Standard English Conventions tests

This domain is finite in a way nothing else on the test is: a small set of rules, tested repeatedly, with an answer that is right or wrong rather than better or worse. Sentence boundaries — commas, semicolons, periods and dashes — account for the bulk of it, and subject-verb agreement, verb tense, and modifier placement account for most of the rest. Because the rules are enumerable, this is the fastest section of the SAT to improve, and the one where a mistake log pays back most directly: you are re-encountering the same rule, not a new passage.
